But over the past year, researchers, psychologists, and even lawmakers have been asking a harder question: what happens when a chatbot becomes someone\u2019s <em>only<\/em> source of support? The honest answer is that AI tools can help with some things, fail quietly at others, and are genuinely unsafe in a few situations that matter most. Here\u2019s what the evidence says \u2014 and how to use these tools wisely if you already do.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"why-so-many-people-type-their-feelings-into-a-chatbot\">Why so many people type their feelings into a chatbot<\/h2>\n<p>The reasons people turn to AI are real and understandable.
